VRM:
Last race of the year, end of
season, how would you sum up the year?
Kelly
Smith: I don’t
know. My overall finishes have not been the best. I have been riding fast but
not getting the starts I need. The bike
has also broken down the last two weekends so I have not been getting the
points I wanted to. Still a couple of
people have noticed me and see that I have the speed. We will see what happens in the next couple of weeks and see
where I end up.
VRM:
After your overall win Mt.
Morris you were definitely on a roll what happen to stop that momentum?
Kelly
Smith: At Southwick
I got into a first turn crash, which was right after my win so maybe I was a
little pumped up for the next race. I
am from Michigan so I ride the sand all the time anyways so I was looking
forwards to Southwick. The next moto I
broke the front wheel. I got tangled up
with Brandes (Michael Brandes). His foot peg snagged the front wheel and
broke some spokes out. My poor results
have almost always been something I could not help. Things will turn around and go my way soon.
VRM:
Is there some speculation
where Kelly Smith will be next year.
Where do you seen yourself?
Kelly
Smith: I still see
myself in the 125 East coast series.
With whom, I do not know for sure.
I think I kind of have the option to be with KTM again. I am still talking with some other
people. There are some spots open yet
and we will figure something out in the next couple of weeks.
VRM:
What are you going to do in
the off-season?
Kelly Smith: Starting next week I will begin the four stroke nationals and defend my title.
