VRM:

Kelly how did things go for you last week at the Unadilla National?

Kelly Smith:

The first Moto, I didn't get a very good start and had to work my way up through the pack. Through out the Whole first Moto, I was having trouble with my clutch slipping. The clutch problem held me back from getting a good finish. In between Motos, we worked hard to fix the clutch problem. I thought we had the problem fixed, but my clutch ended up going out completely during the second Moto.  With my clutch completely burned up, I couldn't even get enough power to the ground to climb the steep hills on the Unadilla Track. I ended up having to pull off and DNF’d the 2nd Moto.

I am still sitting in the top 10 in the National Points Series, so I don't have to run a Qualifier here at Troy, OH. We have the clutch problem figured out now and I am excited to race here at Troy!

VRM:

Kelly is the Troy, OH Track one of your favorite National Tracks or is it a Track you have struggled with in the past?

Kelly Smith:

I wouldn't say Troy is one of my favorites because it’s all flat ground with little natural terrain obstacles. I can still do well here and I feel I am strong enough physically to ride hard the whole Moto in the heat. When it’s hot like this, I tend to do better later in the Motos.

VRM:

What’s your favorite section of the track at Troy?

Kelly Smith:

I like the Pro Section of jumps in the back of the track that they only open up on Sunday once a year for the Pro National.

VRM:

Kelly went out and rode hard at Troy finishing 10th in Moto # 1 and 9th in Moto #2. Kelly ended up 9th overall and maintained his top ten position in the National Points.
