Kelly Smith on the week before he goes off to Italy to race an European Supercross is set to finalize his deal for 2002 and sign with a new team. Kelly said that he would be officially signed with Moto XXX prior to leaving on the trip. Kelly stated he would be riding a YZ250F for the 125cc East coast Supercross series and campaigning on occasion in the 250cc class during the West coast races possibly aboard a YZ426.

On Moto XXX Kelly will teamed up with fellow Michigan Mafia member Nick Wey. This should be quite a combo.
